Hi everyone.

I’m currently in the process of packing up and leaving for the USA which will be happening in March. I’m currently looking and researching a number of things in the us but one of the items on my to do list is sort out a car/minivan/4x4. My brother in law does seem to be very much buy American as parts are cheaper? But I’m not fussed as long as it has 7 seats (family) and 4x4 (moving to upstate New York and apparently winter is fun) Anyway I’ve stumbled across a small amount of Shogun’s (Montero) for sale which are all petrol and didn’t release they made it to North America!
What I’m after is the pros and cons to a mk3 petrol. Many years ago I drove a 98 swb shogun diesel but it was new and a company car so I never saw any issues with it. I’m looking at getting a 2002-2004 lwb Montero that will have between 100,000 and 140,000 miles on because I can’t shake the feeling that it’s a far better vehicle than say a Ford Explorer or a Dodge Durango that will be twice the price. Any information, help I.e is it a belt or chain, service intervals, known issues, strength and weakness. This help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all in advance Craig
