|
|
Hi all,
My wife has a 2015 lwb and has started to complain about a buzzing noise coming from the boot. It sounds like an electrical motor buzz and is as intermittent fault it happens whilst driving, parked and even with the keys removed. It seems to be coming from behind the panel on the drivers side in the boot. Has anyone has this before as Google isn't much help.
Thanks in advance

Have you got a towbar fitted?
On my MkII there is a buzzer that sounds when a trailer is connected and the indicators are flashing.
If you have the electrics on a towbar then try cleaning the socket on the towbar as dirt / moisture may be causing a partial short circuit. |

Yeah towbar on it, thought the same and gave it a spray with wd40 earlier but didn't make any difference. Just been told that it louder when she's braking? |

So it is something to do with the brake lights coming on.
I would still suspect the towbar wiring - WD40 won't be enough if there is corrosion in the wiring or the socket.
The best way is to disconnect the wiring in the socket and see if that stops it - but insulate any bare wires that are there after disconnecting.
If it stops then reconnect each wire one by one and see if the noise comes back after each one is connected. |

Pulled the socket off and inside was full of silt so cleaned it with contact cleaner and an air line but made no difference. Actually getting to drive the car I've discovered that it buzzes when any of the rear lights have to come on, indicators, reverse and the tail. Ran out of time but will see about getting the interior pulled out of it tomorrow night and see what's strange or startling there |
