A few weeks back I removed a very mangled oil seal from the rear cover of the transfer case. Now, having received a replacement I can't remember which way round it goes! Yes, I know I should have photographed first but at the time there were more pressing issues to deal with Smile

Does it fit with the open side facing forward or the closed side?

There should be a spring around the skirt that rubs against the shaft, this is the inside face.
