hi,
I hope someone on this site can help me with my problem. My battery went flat (due to unuse and cold weather) and when attaching th jump leads to the battery I saw that there were more sparks than normal and the leads got really hot (heavy duty leads that I have used on this car a few times without them heating up), removed the leads and let them cool down, tried again and they worked fine, car started immediately but the abs pump didnt kick in, checked everything else and found the central locking not working (made me think that I've fried a fuse or two).
I have checked the fuses and found that all are OK but have noticed that the 120a fuseable link in the engine bay fuse box is blown, I have no idea what this link is for or even if it was 'good' before the jump start, according to the Haynes manual the only 120a link is for the engine control system (which is working fine as far as I can tell), again according to the Haynes manual the abs is connected to the No8 and No9 fuseable link but dosent show these links on any of the other wiring diagrams in the manual.
Could a site member who is knowlegable about the mk3 wiring please help as I am just a novice where electrics are concerned or even just point me in the direction of a good wiring diagram as the one in the Haynes manual is less than good. |

replaced 120a fuseable link which has got the central locking working but the ABS pump still not kicking in when car started, managed to find fuseable links 8 & 9 but both test to be OK, now I am stumped as to where to look next. |
