Hi,
I took out the instrument cluster from my dad's mk3 because the fuel gauge and the temp gauge weren't giving constant readings. The temp gauge was an easy fix, it was just the resistor R10 on the logic or control board that needed to be resoldered, but I thought of just resoldering all that I could in hopes to also fix the fuel gauge.
Yes, the two gauges got fixed!
But then, after 4.2Kms as per the record on the trip meter, the speedo stopped working.
It shifts all the way to fourth and lock-up.
any help would be greatly appreciated. |

did the speedo work after you fitted the dash back in ?
I changed my lights in the dash panel but the speedo didnt work afterwards, what i found is that when you remove the bits out of the back (from memory the circuit board) you have to lightly push the front speedo face in till you hear clicks and do this all round the lcd. After this my speedo worked. Maybe the same problem. I think i did a write up before ill see if i can find it |

Hi,
Thank you for your response, but experience also taught me that the the dial needs to be "pressed in" after re-fitting the circuit board, but unfortunately, this time, even with the speedometer freely moving, it just wouldn't work. The Display still works though.
I had just re-soldered all the connections for the 4th time, if it still doesn't work, the speedo might be busted. It could be that the speed got busted because I may have done a mistake re-soldering the circuit board the first time. SIGH. |

UPDATE: It's fixed. I dunno how. But for some mysterious reason, after the 4th time re-soldering, it now works. |
