Hi there,
Im new to the Mitsubishi pajero ownership. I bought a 1998 Pajero EVO and I love it.
So I had the bushing in the 4wd selector fail, All the selections were working before I took the shifter out even with the bushing broken to pieces.
Anyway, i took the shifter out to replace the bushing, I trial fitted the shifter after wards and it seems that I cant shift out of the option its in, I believe it was in 4wd LC before i took the shifter out. Now should i be able to move the shifter if all the connections on the transfer case are disconnected? I have them disconnected to check for cleaning and haven't connected back yet. I also took the bushing back out and tried it as it was before the repair and the same result, cant move the shifter.

Or should i be able to move the 4wd shifter no matter what?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Glen

If it was in 4Llc and it's been driven on a hard surface, it's possible that transmission wind-up has locked the shift mechanism.  Carefully jack up opposite wheels front and rear and see if the transmission unwinds.  Or go onto a soft surface that will allow the wheels to slip.

Having said that, if all the connections are disconnected, what could be stopping the lever moving?
