I have been looking for an EVO for the last 2 years.   I have found one but it clearly has some issues albeit it drives.    Putting to oneside cost (for the moment) are original or alternative parts available to renovate/rebuild the following major items:

Engine components (cams,pistons,oil pump, water pump, alternator, ignition leads, distributor, engine mounts etc);
Automatic gearbox components (gearbox mounts etc)
Transfer box components?  [the transfer selector is incredibly loose with lots of 'play']
Suspension?
Brakes?

I am aware of issues surrounding bushes for the suspension.
