Have you checked for split intercooler hoses or a leak in the intercooler itself?

Yes yes i just see it, "goes well once it gets going" lol chances are you need a new timing chain, stretched chains cause a loss of low end torque, a new chain will also improve overall drivabilty and will improve as will fuel consumption too, reported by the 100s of customers who i have replaced chains for Smile

Also....

Due to the design of these engines a normal amount of chain stretch produces an abnormal amount of valve timing loss.....  so a new chain at around 100k miles really refreshes the performance and improves economy  Very Happy

Am findng its putting out black smoke uoto 60/65 mph on the bypass. Previous owner had overfilled the engine oil, am hoping its nothing to do with that.

Ill give it a service and see how it is from there, cant see it making a big difference.  It does need a pump seal to.

Intercooler hoses are ok, how do you test the intercooler? I think the egr blanking plates gasket hasnt sealed properly,

Worth checking the EGR blanking plate for a hole. If it was done with lightweight material, it may have burned through?.

Spotted smoke leaking between exhaust manifold and egr plate, going to order gaskets and see if that helps.

Derv from fuel filter  i expected it to be black/oil
