thought I'd start a thread with the faults found with the Shogun Sport 2.5TD fuel system
the truck was starting to give me problems starting, but eventually started after half a dozen tries, decided to go to my local Indy garage and get it up on the ramps for a look
Fuel tank was covered in diesel, it looked porous, 2nd hand tank found locally, described as solid and came all undersealed nicely !!
fitted this tank, all up and running, then after a week, starting problems, looking at the chassis through the rear nearside wheel arch the chassis looked wet with diesel, so I decided to disconnect the filter feed pipe from the tank and fit a temporary fuel feed from a jerry can, car started first time and ran perfectly
went back to the garage, up on the ramp again, dropped the tank and found 3 pin holes in the side of the tank and the stack pipes were also porous in 3 or 4 places
Went to Eurocar parts and got some epoxy putty, fitted the putty round all the leaks, left for and hour until it went off, looks to have done the trick
tank fitted back in place, no leaks observed, connected the filter to the feed pipe from the tank, bled the system, first turn up and running, no leaks
So for leaks get some Metal Epoxy Putty, might get you up and running again
Hope this helps someone else |
