Driving the car the other day when there was a loud noise from engine bay, car stopped running and all lights on dash came on, at first I thought it had thrown timing belt as the plastic cover was damaged at the top, however took cover off and timing belt still on however the balance shaft belt had snapped, tried turning car over and not trying to start as if no compression, what damage might have been done? Thanks in adavance.

Cheers, I did wonder if cam belt had jumped couple of teeth when balance belt snapped and likely got caught in the cam belt. If it’s that simple what are people’s views on running without balance belt as this seems a common issue. Thanks
