Ours is not a Mk III however I think the Mk III has the same roof rail system. We simply took the existing roof rails off and mounted the roof rack onto the threaded mounts in the roof. Easy solution - obviously you need to fabricate the mounts on the roof rack itself, however its not difficult.
I tried to send a photo however cannot get the file size down to 1B...
If someone can tell me how to get permission for more than 1B I would appreciate it. |

You can't save images directly on to the forum, unfortunately. You need to save them to a photo-sharing website (such as ImageShack) and then post links. |

managed to post a link to flickr that's the best I can do. so from what I know the rack came from a ford transit connect, I used some uni strut as a base which fixed straight to the roof the car and the original bolts from the rails and some angle iron which I had.
So as you can see it's not too bad looking.
Going to post some more on another thread. |

In case you thought so, I was in no way being disparaging about your roof rack, which looks great.
I was only trying to help you by posting the image. |

Some people might not like it which I get , it also hangs over the back wheel where I made four bike fork brackets out of other stuff laying around which I would like to show. |

To paste photos into a forum post from Flickr
Go to the image in Flickr and select the 'Share' arrow in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. On the window that pops up, select the right hand tab entitled BBCode. Choose the image size you want, then copy and past the text that's presented in the box. Make sure you scroll to get all of the text - not just the text that is visible:
