Hi All
I am hoping someone can assist.. I am looking to fit new sills on my 3 door commercial but it appears no-one sells them..
So i was looking at a few ideas...
1. Buy, cut, bash and bend the earlier model ones.. (Do they even fit?)
2. buy LWB sills, cut them short, reinforce and weld them up to make SWB ones (are the LWB and SWB sills the same but just a different length?)
3. buy metal and form them myself or use box section..
4. Just break it for parts as it might be worth more and save a lot of hassle and buy a newer one!
Any thoughts
Thanks all

It depends on how much rust there is on the rest of the underbody. |

Thanks for the reply
That is a VERY good question!
The sills are the worst as the are totally rotted but were disguise by filler and the outer plastic mouldings! the floors are OK (ish) and the main chassis appears solid (more solid than many a Landy I have had).
The front and rear arches need repair/ panels replaced too..
When I write it down it does sound terminal!
There is some good stuff.. honest...I bought it from a friend who cannot weld and has no practical skills when it comes to vehicles.. I can do most things but sometimes i am NOT objective in terms of the time and money involved (see above) LOL
The engine is good, It has a new clutch (fitted about 500 miles ago). about £800 fitted?
It had a new fuel tank and pump fitted about 12 months (3k miles ago). over £1k apparently
It starts on the button even after it has sat for a bit... I have just used it to move stuff around my yard, but I think I need a second opinion.. repair or scrap I guess are the options??
Thanks |
