Has anyone had to replace the bulbs that illuminate the switches,not the green on each button they work, but the background lights when the main lights are on, i.e the instrument lights Haynes manual is a no go. Its a 2.5 SWB. The one recently broken into last week re "Hollands Toffee"messages Nearly sorted now. Crying or Very sad Sad Confused Mad

Stan, I replaced a back-light bulb on the AC/heater unit a month ago... a fiddly but straightforward job... There are 3 bulbs that light the symbols on the control unit... they are attached to plastic holders that when turned anticlockwise come off with the bulbs...

1- remove platic trim around the AC unit and audio system- 2 screws and two clips hold it.

2- The AC unit is held by metal strips and screws... unscrew them and pull unit out ... disconnect electric plugs from the back of the unit... (can rest the AC unit on top of the gear lever now!!

3- two screws hold the front panel of the AC unit... undo those and gently prize the front panel of the AC unit... now you can see THREE round plastic parts... these are the bulb holders.... take out the faulty ones....

4- make a trip to MAPLIN or similar electronic shops.... and get the new bulbs and fit accordingly...

5- put things back in order...
