Hi.
Im diagnosing the typical 4x4 flashing lights on my 2005 shogun sport.
The nipple has snapped off the vacuum accumulator tank and I'm struggling to find a replacement,  I'm just wondering if it's possible to blank the pipe and run it without the tank temporary until I find a replacement?

Many thanks.
Dave.

I've managed to cut off what was left of the nipple, drilled and tapped it and fitted new nipple.
It's seems to be holding vacuum (or at least pressure using a tyre pump) but I'm fairly sure its not a perfect seal so will no doubt leak slowly.

Still like to know if this part is essential/what it's for?

Thanks.
Dave.

Im assuming this forum is now dead ?
But ill carry on regardless lol

So today I took it for a test drive with the vacuum pipe to the vacuum tank blanked off...
The 4x4 light has now gone off aswell as the engine management light which is a bonus. Doesn't appear to be any negative effects from removing vacuum accumulator tank so I'll see how that goes.

Question: (which by look of forum ill be answering myself in few days lol )
Does my sport have lights to show it's in 2wd ? I can't remember how it was before but now 1 light comes on when I'm in 4x4 but in 2wd no lights at all.. is this normal for my shogun sport ?

My previous pajeros and shogun always had the 2 lights constantly on when in 2wd so if the sport is the same then I may still have a fault somewhere?

Dave.

Hi,

From memory if it's the same as mine you don't have a light for 2WD.

Light on - 4WD.
Light flashing - Changing from 4WD to 2WD.
Light off - 2WD.
The Vacuum reservoir act to provide vacuum to the 4WD solenoids and actuator on the front axel. It's driven by the brake servo pump on the rear of the Alternator.

It may work without the tank but if you require more actuations it may be sluggish (Just guessing)
