I have a 2012 4 door GLS 3.5ltr without the Center Diff Lock and would like to take it out on the dunes however I have heard owners
experiencing problems with the ASC or 4x4 system.
Is there a basic check list of items that should be adjusted/disconnected or altered before dune bashing to limit any
concerns with ABS/ASC. locking up once wheel spin is detected? Ive had plenty of experience dune bashing in my old Patrol and F150 and 1989 2 Door Mitsubishi/ Hyundai Galloper.
All of which were amazing in the sand.
Any advice or direction to relevant posts would be appreciated
Cheers

We switch off the "antiskid" control and nothing else - no problems with dunes (including a 5 day crossing of the Simpson). The key is to "air down" appropriately. We usually drop to 22 psig and then further if the sand turns out to be softer. Lowest pressure we've used has been 18 psig. |

Thank you Alan. Thats good news. I have found some information on a grey wire switch so Im assuming this the ABS system. On my old Patrol I aired down between 15 subject to how soft the sand was, just need to make sure of no sharp turns otherwise may just pop a tire off the rim
thanks for the advice |

Thanks for the information! I was looking for a way to "offroad-proof" mine, too, as I'll be spending, hopefully, a couple weekends from 2021 onwards between this real estate in Budapest, where I'd like to have a house, and the beaches of the Adriatic, and other offroad driving spots. |
