Evening all.

Sorry to jump in as a first time poster on here with a really strange question but I’m at my wits end.
I’ve just picked up my 3rd shogun a 2004 3.2 d1d all seemed well but then noticed the super select lights all go out after starting when first turned on all green lights and 4l come up then all go and 4wheel won’t work at all.
Any help would be great as I’m clueless haha.

Thanks in advance and please be gentle I’m virgin on here haha

Yet another depressing update..... I’ve changed all 5 transfer switches today all tested and good yet still the c/l plagues me and with the same code 33 error........ any ideas what this could be or is crying in a puddle the only option as I’m all out of ideas.

Thank you again all.

Evening all.
Lost 5th gear and just found the asc is dead as a door nail. Any body interested in a shogun shaped bbq.
The drama continues once more.

Have you checked the actuator shift rail is moving when you move the gear lever between 2H 4H L? It’s at the end of the transfer case, rear prop side. It has an electrical connection at the end of it. Get someone to move the super select level while you are under the car and listen if the rail moves. Obviously someone you trust. If you google shogun a shift actuator rail you will get loads of pics what it looks like.

The shift rails are notched which then depresses or opens the transfer case switches. You need to establish where the shift rail actuators, there 2. Are in relation to the 5 switches. If you search on you tube will will fins few that explain how to check the positions.

So what I am trying to explain is the switches, shift rails and transfer case ecu are not in sync. Either from stuck rail or stuck switch.

You will see there are three switches on the left, looking to the front of the car and 2 on the right. It’s these 2 where the issues will be as they are the 2WD and Low range switch.

Hi perry thank you so much for your help I took out the new switches to check the rod movement which is limited but there is movement in there the motor moves by hand but not with the select switch........... BUT I a revelation has happened haha spent to much money on a code reader and pulled up a code 83 on the abs asc and transfer box which is the steering wheel centre position sensor which I’ve read can cause hell on earth.
Waiting for software update for the new toy to re centre the sensor if not box out again.
For those of any interested if the box comes out again I’ll post pics of the homemade work hatch I made to change the switches from inside.

Thanks all and thank you some much perry your a diamond.

Hi all after further poking and electrocution it seems the asc is faulty and my not be the steering alignment sensor...... there does seem to be a lot of non Mitsubishi approved duck tape behind the dash but new asc is ordered and I’ll keep you all updated.
