Hi, my  89 Pajero (5 speed manual) does about 3000rpm  while doing 60mph in last gear.

Is it supposed to run that high revs ?

Seems high to me based on my recollection of the one we had (same model) although we couldn't drive it anywhere near 60 mi/h (limited by the "roads" not the car). In our current vehicle (different model - 2016 automatic) at 90 Km/h we have around 2000 rpm.

my 94 2.8 shogun manual would sit at 3k at 70mph and about 2700 at 60mph,compared to my 3.2 auto that sits a tad over 2000 rpm at 70mph.

Yeah i know that modern vehicles sit much lower on cruising speed.
But since i havent owned so old mechanical diesel before, thats why i wantet to know if its normal or there is something off with my machine.
