Hi all,
Cargo door handle on my Shogun 3.2 swb 54 plate has gone all loose, is there another way to get door open. Ive tried the key in the lock by the number plate, that just locks and unlocks central locking......any advice will be most welcome. |

Hi,
Yeh mine aswell, problem is getting the door open to easily get the panel of it would be a pig otherwise I managed to get my handle to work by spraying copious amounts of WD 40 up into the handle location and work the handle eventually it freed enough to catch and open the door then you can get the panel of and do it properly.

Gentlemen thank you very much for ur replies.
I had been squirting loads of WD40 in the gaps of the handle, but it wasn't working. So i climbed in the back and pulled off the bottom door liner, then removed 3 bolts to move a bracket so i could get my big clumsy hand to where the door handle is. I found that a spring that is connected to the handle at one end then connected to a rod at the other was seized, i pulled rod the door opened. Plenty of WD40 then oil soon got it working like new. Thanks again for ur help.............Tiny |

Experienced this today on a 2003 LWB Facelift and the cause was slightly different. The link arm from the handle, and the spring, were fine. The problem was the link from the central locking motor to the lock was seized. Although the central locking made the usual sounds in the cargo door it wasn't releasing the lock. WD40 solved it.
Like others I was initially wondering how to get to it with the door closed but it turned out to be relatively easy. Undo 2 screws holding the high-level brake light shroud, then unplug the brake light and undo 2 screws holding it in place. "Pop" the window surround off. Now there is access to the top edge of the lower trim panel (upper panel overlaps lower).
If there's a tool-carrier (or storage bin) fitted undo the 2 bolts holding it in place and remove. Undo the 2 screws recessed in the storage bin behind the cargo net. "Pop" the lower surround off.
Peel back the plastic covering to access the linkages and components. |
