Hi
I have a 2005 Shogun Sport Warrior 2.5TD.
I need to replace the rotting oil sump. Plenty of cheap ones about without the oil level sensor but none with a built in sensor. Mine DOES have an oil level sensor which i don't want or need because it also has a dip stick.
How can I bypass the oil level sensor so that when I fit a sump without a sensor, it doesn't throw up a warning light or engine management light on the dash?
Is it a case of joining the two sensor wires together, or just leave the wires unplugged and taped up, or does it have to be programmed out of the engine management software?
Anyone done this?

It depends on which type as some have a float fitted with a magnetic switch and ofthers are directly liked to the switch.

Begin by removing the float switch from the sump and measure it with a multimeter with the ignition switched on with the float held up, if it has continuity then drop the float and see if it breaks the continuity you just bridge the connector wires together and eliminate the float switch.
