|

Sorry if this is the wrong category. I didn't see an ABS section, so I figured since it's part of the braking system.
2008 NS Pajero 3.0L 6G72 GCC Variant
Since I bought the car, every 2-10 minutes I hear a sound similar to the high-pitched whine of the bulb flash capacitor charging in those old disposable cameras and it drives me nuts. Today I figured out that the sound is coming from the top of what I think is the ABS pump. Just prior to making the sound the housing (circled) will make the sound of a small mechanical gear mechanism turning (3 seconds) then finish with the capacitor whine.
I have a couple of questions:
- Why does this happen?
- Is this repairable without replacement?
- If replacement is needed, is there likely to be significant damage or danger if I don't repair or replace it?
- I'm having a difficult time locating the part in Mitsubishi parts catalogs online, does anyone have part numbers for what needs to be replaced? |

The forum won't let me attach an image or include a link in the post, so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to show anyone the part producing the noise. |

Sorry for all the replies, but editing a post is turned off as well.
Braking is working fine. No ABS codes are being thrown. ABS is working fine (had to use it a few days ago). |
