I need to replace the thermostat this weekend, which I notice has a black rubber ring.  I was wondering if there is a gasket on the thermostat housing before I come to take it off, anyone know?  Its a 2004 LWB Shogun 3.2DiD.  Many thanks

For questions like this I usually refer to the exploded parts diagrams on megazip.net - all that is needed is the model code from the vehicle ID plate, e.g. for my Gen 3 GDi LWB Elegance it is "LYXCR6", and enter in the search text box. Then find the page that covers the part(s) you are querying and usually it'll show the part and the part number(s).

Hi, i changed my thermostat about 18months ago, i used some gasket sealer, i think its called RTV a few punds  never leaked, secure and working, Halfords sell it, its high temp compatible, leave it overnight or let the engine idle. I am sure there is better advice by the professionals, i am just a weekend mechanic  hope it helps
