Hi Folks, found your forum a couple of years back and it's been a mineof information unavailable  anywhere else. I've been trying to locate my AC control unit on my Pajero 2.8 exceed longwheelbase.I  think it may be suspect. AC won't come on even though I've tested Magnetic Clutch and compressor spinning up. I've run through the AC solenoids under the bonnet and checked the fuses but still getting no power to the magnetic clutch when switch made in cab. I'm suspecting the AC control Unit needs replacing but I can't seem to locate it. If anyone knows where Mitsubishi have hidden it I'd be obliged for their help and information. I've got an idea what it looks like but am struggling to find anything similar  under the dash. Any help or ideas on its location or common faults would be great. I'm hoping to get AC fixed to save me cooking when I'm on the motorway to off road driving. Cheers Scott Borthwick.

hello.
I do not think there is a control unit just temperature sensors. The system won;t work unless there is the right amount of  gas in it. have you had it checked for gas and leaks?

Thanks Emax, I've been trying to recharge with the gas but thought I needed compressor spinning to do this properly. The problem seems to be when I call for aircon on the dashboard the light comes on but the compressor doesn't.  I'll  need to check through temperature senders like you say but the wiring diagram does show an AC compressor control unit perhaps this is the dash controls. Cheers for your input I'll  keep plugging away at it. Thanks Scotty.

The compressor will not kick in if there is not enough gas in the system or it is empty. It is to protect the compressor. The system has lubrication included in a regas. The compressor does not have to be running (and probably should not be)  to regas. To be regassed properly the system has to be evacuated to remove the gas, oil and any moisture. Then the system should be pressure tested with Ntrogen.

Do not waste your time  with the likes of Twit Fix as they will plug it in to an automatic machine which vacuum tests the system, which is a waste of time. If you are trying the DIY aproach, best not to, it is  better to save your time and money and find some who knows the job, which in my experience is not that easy but they are out there.

oh and I forgot, if it is a LWB, the AC pipes that go over the chassis to the rear probably have holes in them
