Gents, subject car as per topic subject.
I have covered nearly 50K miles and it’s time for a service. I won’t be doing this myself ( no facilities etc) but I do like to know what’s going on. Regarding the autobox, I think a fluid change is in order but cannot find any literature on the method. Car doesn’t have a autobox dipstick. Can anyone please point me in the right direction. Tried google search but not really successful and I can never seem to get results from this forums search facility.
Cheers all

You posted in the mk3 section but we will let you off!
Look it up in the manual here: http://mmc-manuals.ru/manuals/pajero_iv/online/Service_Manual/2016/index_M1.htm
You need to pump the old fluid out using the normal method, the filler plug is on the side of the gearbox. To check the level the vehicle needs to be level and at the required temperature, all explained in the manual and can be done without diagnostics. Don't forget to use the correct fluid, Millers have a new product which is suitable. |

Thanks Mike. Much obliged for your quick reply. I just wanted to be reassured that it wasn’t necessarily a specialist job requiring hi tech.

Ensure they use the correct ATF as tese transmissions run hot and any old ATF will break down quickly and destroy the transmission so ensure it is to Dia Queen SP III+ or SP 4. |

I see that Milners do a kit with both fluid and filter that conforms to SP111. I will point that out to my garage. Thanks again for your advice

SP 3 is for early MK 3 models and you need the SP 4 for yours. |

Oh okay…. Thanks, nothing straight forward these days
I must admit to some confusion here. The manual as posted by Mike states SP111 unless I’m reading it wrong??? |

You are looking in the wrong section, your gearbox is a V5AWF which shows ATF PA. |
