Well it is true that diesel is cheaper here - I just filled up now and it was 85c a litre (good old Tesco). It's just that everything else to do with running a car here is expensive, i.e. approx €1100 road tax per year and €1500 a year on insurance .
I guess I am trying the oil for a few reasons. I do a lot of mileage so any increase in fuel economy is always nice, there are reports that it is good for the engine and mine certainly seems to like it, and there's the whole environmental issue. The other point is that it's far nicer to carry around a few litres of veggie oil than diesel for emergencies.
A lot of it is curiosity tho, and as I mentioned I would be interested in converting over totally if it was deemed to be practical. I do believe that we are messing up things for ourselves by using all these fossil fuels and it's only going to be a matter of time before we have to try alternatives.
On second thoughts tho, it may be ambitious to think my Paj will still be around when that happens, i think the fossil fuels have about another 30 years of reserves .
