Ok, guys, some advice please.

Just awaiting my Midland 48 multi plus rig with 5" foot springer and bullbar mount. Now, my problem. I can't see any obvious way to get through the engine bulkhead on my '94 LWB2.8td and I'm thinking that there may be an element of drilling and cutting here.

So, my question is, has anyone done a job like this and what advice could you give me?

  Cheers,
                 Iain   Very Happy

Just look at bulk head lower down and look for any grommets with cables/wires going through, yours might be on pass side that goes to top of foot well.On r/h drive its on pass side, just behind glove box.I used that rubber grommet, opened it up a little and fed cable/wires through. If you need pic let me know Wink

Great info, all. I had a look and it appears to be there but on the other side of the engine bay, that is, on the left hand side (opposite side to the battery) coming through to the passenger footwell.

Now just got to wait for all the gear to arrive so the butchering....sorry, DIY Smile, to begin. Still can't figure ou why DHL find it neccesary to route packages heading to Gibraltar from UK via Leipzig!! .....Go figure!

Once I've got the setup complete, I'll post some pics to show my handywork!! Smile

I found it easier to go from engine side through to behind glove box,if you reach up you should be able to feel it and pull through to save taking carpet up Wink Also if you tape it(insulation tape)to a straight coat hanger or similar thin wire its easier to get through grommet

Thanks for the pics. Just done mine this aft. Leaving the second battery connected makes for an interesting life. Shocked  Took the cap off the grommet connection at the bulkhead and used a coat hanger as a draw wire. Smile

Well, thanks to all the info, got the power wire through to the cab. Just need to get the radio physically mounted in the cab and get the antenna through. On another thought, I'm going to have to cut the PL259 connector to get that through. How difficult are these to reconnect to the cable?

How do you mean,is it being front mounted(aerial)i would think easier as cable larger and more stiff.I just slit grommet and feed cable that way but that was for amp power and is a similar size.As its a slit it seals up after being rubber too.Could attach some wire/coat hanger etc and push through as the hole where grommet is is big enough. I would try 1st with out removing end, might be easier to do that 1st then power lead or tape together at same time.

look at the cruss control
it's a box under bonnet in the center
follow the pipe on the left till it hits the bulk head
drill a hole close to this . push your wire through and look near your foot pedals

that's what i have done today
