Looking at a buying a mk1 to use as a weekend toy and take advantage of cheap classic insurance. I had a price agreed for a very tidy 89 manual swb but the owner is having second thoughts and won't go through with the deal. Now I've seen a 90 swb auto advertised but its a 3 hour drive away and before I go to see it I was just wondering what the autos are like to drive. Being just 4 speed are they very revvy on the motorway?. It won't be doing a lot of motorway work or for that matter mileage in general but curious to know if the auto box robs the engine of power and any reasonable turn of speed. Any advice or practical experience would be appreciated
