Run a search on alternative fuels. There has been some recent debates on this item with some owners being happy with the vege oils. |

The 2.8 4m40 diesel engine will run on 25% vegoil and diesel with no problems, and up to 50% with a bit of unleaded added to reduce viscosity . 100% vegoil will need a preheater
Running new or properly processed used vegoil in the correct manner cannot in itself cause damage; most people (including myself) who run on it are certain it is beneficial to the engine.
Search under my user name for a post I made a couple of weeks ago about vegoil, it's pretty long winded but based on my own experiences |

Myself, my father in law and a friend of mine all use sunflower oil in our motors with no problems. (A Paj, a Mazda Bongo and a Series 3 Landy)
Use at about 80% diesel, 20% oil. No problems at all. The sunflower oil burns as well as diesel, but also has better lubrication qualities, so makes your diesel go a bit further. It also makes the engine run a bit quieter. 8) |

felix, with that ratio is it worth it?
50/50 would make more sense surely. |

This was the ratio I was recommended to use - any higher can cause problems. It certainly makes a difference, an extra 3/4 MPG.
Look at : www.vegburner.co.uk/index.html |

Get yourself to a warehouse like Bookers. Or try somewhere with a high population of Chinese or Indians. Some of the Indian supermarkets in Sparkhill sell it in bulk, or try the big Wing Yip Cash & Carry in Birmingham. |

I posted on this a couple of months ago - I tried it with the 20% oil to 80% diesel ratio and found it great. The only reason I don't have it in there at the mo is I haven't been to Lidl recently. I found better mpg, about an extra 80-100km per tank, which is not to be sniffed at, and I also found the engine more responsive. I'll definitely be making it a regular addition.

Be carefull here guy's, not all vegi oils are equal... some contain acids which eat up fuel lines and destroy fuel pumps, most used oils are ok because the frying process destroys the acids, but if used straight can cause the above.
