hi all

went to work in paj this morning and noticed my headlights were very dull and wipers very slow by the time i got to work nothing worked but it ran ok had to get jumped off to come home now it will not start at all it was ok yesterday any ideas

could be batteries but sounds like alternator...dont want to sound patronising have u checked that the fan belt hasnt snapped...

Hi chris
It sounds like your battery has gone flat through the alternator not charging.
Iwould check the fanbelts first and if they are okay.
Have the alternator checked to see if it is charging
Or it could just be a bad connection on the battery

checked fanbelt and battery connections all ok just seems strange packing up like this

def sounds like alternator but without actually seeing the car its hard to find but 99% its alt not charging battery..

checked batteries today showing 11.52 volts started up with a jump pack and it's gone down to 11.27 volts

you should have 14volts ish once started so sounds like dogey alternater but if batteries are not holding charge alternater will not show its working i would sugest charge both batteryies or the battery if you only have one overnight refit to car then take it to a spares shop or garage and get them to do battery and alternater check and dropp test the batteries to see there condition 12.5 volts mine reads when switched of and 14volts when running

charged batteries and fitted new alternator now getting 12.4 volts switched off and 13.9 ish running just didn't expect it to pack in like this

becuase the 2 batteries are fitted i found that they will mask alt problems untill its to late mine run for 3 days with no alt without jumpstarts on short jorneys ive now got a voltmeter fitted to tell me if its charging
