Just replaced the water pump on my 4x4, and all seems okay no loss of water anywhere and on overheating.

But I have a problem with the temp gauge, before the pump went the gauge would sit at the half-way mark once it warmed up, now the gauge goes up to the half-way mark and then goes back to cold, this cycle does not change no matter how far or how hard I drive it.

I would suspect the thermostat but ruled it out due to the fact it was fine before I replaced the pump.

Anyone got any ideas.

check the sender contact(and replace the stat anyway)
