I have just purchased a 2.8lwb exceed, put a tenner in fuel gauge moved just off the bottom, done about 15miles or so and fuel light came on. Is this about right?

Hi Paul - the answer is yes !!!.
I bought my first pajero ( 2.8 LWB ) just before Christmas, having sold my Subaru Impreza Turbo. One of the reasons I sold the Subaru was due to the fuel costs, and I was amazed at how much fuel the Pajero took. I used to put £10.00 worth of diesel in it and would find that by the second or third day that it needed re-fuelling. I just accept now that it costs me between £40.00 - £50.00 a week to run. And that's just really travelling about 20 miles a day to and from work, and a bit of running around at the weekend.
Just learn to keep it under 70 Mph and in 2WD mode.
Hope this clarifies things for you !.

Hi paulhasanewpaj was the light on before you put the tenners worth in? if it was then you have had to replace the fuel to the point when it goes out. If the light was not on then £10 buys roughly 2 & a bit gallons + the bit you had to use to get the light to come on sounds like something would be wrong only getting 7.5 miles to the gallon, never heard of anyone having fuel consumption this high. Even assuming you were thrashing the beast to death still seems high.

Pardon my ignorance but what is Bio-Fuel, and if it’s good angel9 , and cheap where can I get some?
The majority of miles is driving the eight miles to work, only at the weekend do I get out. 2 weeks ago I bunged 50 Sovs of Derv in and only got 393 Km before fuel light was on, now I do confess to having a heavy right foot at times. the first half a tank did well, but then I fitted the EGR blank and it seemed to drink it. Co-incidence maybe!
