Biofuel can be made for example..
- used cooking oil
- oily crop or any vegetation with includes oily particules(olive oil, that flower wich produce cooking oil[don't know english name for it], mustard seeds...)
Basicly, biodiesel is made fron reneweable material, biodiesel is not fossile fuel.
Here is an interesting link to look at, how to do it, where to start... alla the works and no this isn't porn... http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_make.html
Google and put searc word: bio diesel, or how to make bio diesel, you will get much information for that.
Too bad that in finland any other than fossile fuel is banned by heavy taxation, meaning not even worth of thinking of using reneweable fuels...
I'd switch immediately to biodiesel if that would be possible, it's beeb tested and proved that biodiesel,
- burns more efficiently >> less pollution, noX, smoke, ashes etc...
- lubricates engine better >> engines last longer
- biodiesel is reneweable >> no consuming of fossile basis fuel
- cheap to made and can be made at home, no heavy industry needed
Funny thing that nobody is interested on biodiesels because big oil companies have enough money to silence all information of that, or mankind is just used to get things easily..... |

Thank you both.
I've just blisted through the two sites, and there a lot to be said in favour of BIO and of making your own, the problem they highlight is that if HM C&E get to catching you, your in the mire!
at the mo petro chem distributors are only putting 5% into the forecourts, WHY ? when there are so many benefits to the environment, if they increased the %, certainly we and others with thirsty Derv Drinking Donkeys out there would use more!
we are penalised anyway by paying tax in our fuels, the more we used the more the Estblishment would get.
Food for thought.
Mind you with Chef Jamie Oliver changing our kids diets, there will be less Chip fat about. Fish & Chips anyone!!! |

I suggest as a sort of consolation that the heavy cost of fuel for the Pajero is a sort of swings and roundabouts equation.
Because we are buying these trucks when they are fairly old, the rate of depreciation is much lower than it would be for a newer and ordinary car. Also, the things are very reliable and apart from servicing - which isn't too dear if you learn to do it yourself - running costs are not high.
I have compared our Pajero to our other car, an Audi A4 TDI. I've had that about 6 years and it's depreciated in that time by about £1000 a year - far more than the Paj ever would. In fact our Paj only cost about £6,000 - and in 6 years' time it will probably be worth at least £3000.
That's £500 a year less in depreciation, to offset the higher fuel costs - and you also get the joy of tootling along in one of our Japanese monsters. And in the summer, it's possible to reduce the cost of tootling a bit more by the occasional use of a bit of veggie oil in the tank. (I wouldn't recommend it at this time of year because the stuff can thicken in the cold).
So, maybe not all doom and gloom .. |

My understanding was that it is LEGAL to use bio fuel made from "chip oil" provided you pay customs an excise a duty charge, which is about 26p a litre.. it still works out that you are paying half of what you would pay to a petrol station and is a huge saving. We haven't tried it yet, but have plans. Apparently if you register with them you also get a sticker for the car that states you are legally using bio fuel! |

If you got the recycled bio fuel from a professional then after govt. tax etc. the price isn't that much better plus I read that the bio fuel returns a little less mpg and do you go out of your way to get it as that adds to the costs. Great if you are a "greenie" and want to save the planet but for me bio fuel doesn't seem economically viable if you stay legal. |

From some of the sites I've read, some people get it from their local fish and chip shops - you have to buy a filter kit, which looks like a huge water barrel, and filter the stuff out. Fish and Chip shops are faced with getting rid of a huge amount of used frying oil, and apparently many will let you pick up for no cost. Rumour had it that Asda in Swansea sold out of vegetable oil on a regular basis - and that outside the DVLA in Swansea the smell of fish and chips is very noticeable LOL! Asda are now using bio fuel from recycled cooking oil on some of their lorries, again according to the web site i looked at. Some interesting links as follows:

Bio-Power have outlets all over the country. However, they're not that much cheaper than dino-diesel. http://www.bio-power.co.uk/ is their main page and the list of agents is at http://www.bio-power.co.uk/agents.htm.
That said, their V100 biodiesel can dissolve rubber components of fuel systems and it also flushes the cr*p that's built up over the years, so you'll go through a couple of fuel filters incredibly quickly. Because of these issues, I've not tried it yet but wait with interest to hear from anyone who has
BTW, the "Taxation" section of that website makes interesting reading, particularly the accounts of HMCE visits to the company founder. |

Hmmm ... Lidl's best. In Swansea, it was Asda's cheapest. here's the story. |
