It means that you can overtake easier, instead of the box changing into top it'll hold a lower gear for longer / higher up the revs keeping in the torque band.
The A/T switch is on the centre console by handbrake & auto selector. Hold will make it pull away in 2nd - good for wet grass or snow/ice/frost as it won't wheelspin so readily but you don't get the kickdown function in Hold so don't try to boot it past a lorry in Hold.
I find PWR is only good if you're following a sunday driver and can switch over when safe before you get to a good overtaking stretch or for blowing off that wagon driver who insists on flooring it every time he sees someone pull out to overtake him - watch out for a big puff of black smoke from the exhaust next time you try to overtake a lorry! |

|

Hi, can anyone tell me what this orange PWR light means when it is on - I bought the car with no manual. Also of the 2 green back wheel representational lights on the display - 1 went out - is this just a faulty LED or faulty drive?
Thanks |

First of all welcome to the club.
Now for the answers:
The pwr light being on is just telling you what mode your a/t switch is in check out http://www.pocuk.com/faq/atmodeswitch.htm for details about this switch and its functions. As for the light going on the display its most likely just a led thats gone. Hope this helps |

|
|
Hi all,
I noticed last night that when i switch the gearbox to pwr the light on the dash does not come on. It flickers on very briefly as i switch it between normal and pwr but does not stay on. When in the pwr position the paj only revs to 4k not the 4500 that it should do in pwr mode so i know it's not just the dash light. I does however go into HOLD ok?
Has anyone experienced this before?
Thanks, |
|

Just a quick question - Driving home I had a "PWR" symbol come up on the dash. Have looked at the handbook and it is not shown in the book. Does anybody know what these means and what the problem could be. Thanks - Bob |

It,s not a problem..........there's nothing wrong
There is a rocker switch by the hand brake .......just flick it to it,s central position and the light should go out ........... flick the switch again and it should light up with HOLD on the dash.(I guess you have knocked it while driving)Normal driving won,t have anything lit up on the dash..........that,s what I have it set at anyway.
At least you know bulbs havn't blown like mine all had ....... |

Just behind your gear lever you will see an A/t mode switch, it has 3 settings
PWR, HOLD and Auto. All this does is control the gearbox, in PWR mode it will shift through the gears slower and rev higher. Hold will force the gearbox to pull off in 2nd and restrict the revs at a maximum of 3000 and change gear quicker. Auto is the basic mode and will switch between the 2 depending on how heavy your right foot is |

You'vd flicked the PoWeR switch forwards it will give maximum revs in every gear.....filck it to the centre for normal driving .back and HOLD will light up useful when towing holds it in the most economical gear

Not sure on your internal layout but have a look near the handbrake. If there is a switch with PWR and HOLD on it you have probably bumped this to select PWR. Put the switch in the middle between the two options for most driving. |
