You have flicked the switch down by your hand brake.

Do a search for its use  Wink

Hi all,
In my hand book it says that when you first turn on the ignition the PWR light will flash this means that the transmission is testing its self. The thing is mine don't flash, when I flick the switch to PWR the light lights up & when I place the switch in the hold position the hold light lights up and as far as I can tell they both work. The beast is a 2.8 Super Select.
Can anyone clarify:
Should the PWR light Flash when first turned on.
Reagrds,
Grimo

Hi Nick,
Please can you clarify something for me. When in the hold position :-
1, Are the revs limited to 3000 RPM,
2, Does the box kick down at all,
3, Does the box start off in second gear,
4, Does the box change gear sooner,
Regards,
Grimo

I may be wrong but I think the "hold" keeps your Paaj in the gear selected when pressed.

I cant remember a time i have used it on the road, maybe once with the caravan on the back to keep up momentum on a hill Wink

Used it a few times offroad though Twisted Evil

my "power" button dont light up on start up either Wink

No PWR light on startup here either, '94 2.8 SWB. It illuminates when I operate the switch though and the gear change alters, seems to slip and become sluggish, is this a pulling away on ice/snow thing?

Hold as I understand it and seems to operate on mine (93 3.5):
In drive and hold button selected gearbox will start in 2nd gear.
Box will hold the gears longer so less hunting between gears.
Box will use all gears except 1st. If you want 1st then pull the lever into it.
No rev limit that I have noticed.
I use hold a lot in low range off road and lock to first downhill.
Hope that helps.

hi ,yes the pajero is only a four speed auto ,..(3 + overdrive.) the switch found on the 2.8 td in 'hold' makes the truck stay in the same gear for as long as possible, gentle acceleration and a pull away in second gear<bad driving conditions like snow >   The 'power mode' is the opposite really , first gear pull away , fast gear changes to achieve max acceleration , (the pajero still only gets 0-62 in 17 secs , so dont hold ya breath !! lol). With the switch in the middle<normal position> the beast will toggle between these two modes ,depending upon how heavy your right foot is !

The HOLD button starts you off in 2nd gear ideal for snow.
The POWER doesn't change quicker it holds the gears longs allowing max revs therefore more power. As max power is acheived at 4000rpm.
Maybe i'm setting myself up to be shot down... Laughing

I think Chris is right.

Also its worth noting that some pajeros (not many it seems) have four true gears, and no overdrive. Like my 2.8 which is a 98 model.
