Four words.........get it done professionalyok slightly more then
imho i would entrust anything like that to a pro, with the diy kits can you vac out the system,?? dye test the system?? pressure test the system?? id be suprised if you could do all that with a diy kit,at least if you get it done by a pro if theres any problems you know you can take it back and get it sorted, and you know that its done with the propper stuff and is all done with the correct tools.
Just my opinion,as i say

you could do it sue,but it depends on where the leak is,and it might not be that much cheaper
did you look at all the kits they sell? |

Hi All
I am having my air con checked over tomorrow
Should the guy first check for leaks with a dye or will he be able to see its not leaking
Will he be able to tell me if it requires regassing or do they regas anyway
Anything else I should be asking or looking for
On my last SWB pajero I ended up after 3hrs telling the garage to forget it
and drove away
This guy is coming to my house

well when i had mine done last time the guy pressure tested it then re-gassed the system, but this time he will be putting dye in with the gas cos i know that i have a leak, so i would have thought that they don't normally do this unless you think you have a leak. and with regards to the how much to put in i would have thought that the machine when it pressure tests your'e system will know how much to put in
hope this helps ya |

hi alun,i'll try to explain.
he should vac all the gas out first, and see if the system holds a vaccume.
if it does then he may add a little oil or dye depending on if you have a small leak. then he should charge it with gas |

Good tip for everyone with Aircon....I run mine for at least 10 minutes each week even in the winter...if you dont, the seals dry out and you get your annual leak problems...the aircon fluid/gas contains a lubricant which preserves the rubber seals. I was given this tip by the guy who did mine 2 1/2 years ago...no probs since! |

Hi
Well its all done £70 for a regas also put in the dye in case of future leaks.
Gave me the same advice about running the system even on hot to keep everything ok
The temp:was 10.5 degrees when he came
It is now 6.4 on tickover is that about right?????????
Regards

I bought one of the DIY kits to top up the wife's Honda. Very easy to use and has worked a treat. I would only use it as a top up as you cannot vac out the system with the hose & can supplied.
Not sure If I would want to tinker with the complex dual system on the Shoggy, I would imagine the possibility for leaks & moisture traps is far greater. |
