managed to find out what the recall affects but cant get the chassis numbers as the site down hope this helps:

Which company reported this fault? MITSUBISHI

Description: The advance control lever in the cold start fuel injection advance system may crack if treated roughly during fuel injection timing adjustment due to its insufficient strength. If this happens and the crack is neglected, in the worst case, the lever breaks, and fuel injection amount increases causing the engine revolutions to rise.

How to fix the problem:
The advance control lever should be replaced with the factory approved replacement unit.

How can you tell if the problem has already been checked and/or fixed on your vehicle?
white paint on the advance control lever

see this site for affected chassis numbers

Darn it - mines included in the bottom row, so a call to my friendly Mitsi main dealer seems in order Sad

This isn't the pitman arm - this recall is about the cold-start advance arm (presumably attached to the injection pump).

HTH,

Dont panic joe MMC= Mitsubishi Motors Corp

The Pitman ? get your chassis number from the log book and ring your local Mitsubishi Main dealer ask them to check if the car has had the pitman arms recall in japan.
If not its a free replaqcement by a UK dealer.
Hope that helps

We are delighted that you find the information useful. The Dog and Lemon Guide re-publishes Japanese vehicle recall data in English, to reach the places where so many Japanese vehicles spend the remainder of their serviceable lives.

These recalls are for Japanese-assembled vehicles only.

That said, here's a list of our current recalls on Pajero models. This covers vehicles from 1993 to current, and may be updated in future - we publish the recalll info once it's announced in Japan. Because recalls are published once the problem is recognised by the manufacturer, 'new' recalls may appear on older models (translation: check back for updates).
http://www.dogandlemon.com/site/japanese-vehicle-recalls/?make=MITSUBISHI&model=PAJERO

If your Pajero is an ex-Japanese import, then this list can tell you what faults have been accepted by Mitsi for a service recall. If your vehicle was NOT assembled in Japan, this is not a canonical list of recalls for your vehicle.

I do not know whether a recall in Japan implies that a UK MMC dealer will fix the problem without charge; can someone clue us in on the process there? Diagrams are included showing the repair, and how to tell if your vehicle has been repaired already for this fault.

To explore our recall data on other Japanese assembled vehicles, check here:
http://www.dogandlemon.com/site/japanese-vehicle-recalls/

I'd be delighted for the board admin to put a reference / link in to the sticky "recall" topic if there's not one already.

Btw, yes, the link posted above was out of date, it was from a former layout of the site. (I've updated the site so it redirects you to the correct page now - thanks for the heads-up.)

This list will be updated as time marches on. Here are the recalls we have for Pajero as at February 2006:

http://www.dogandlemon.com/site/japanese-vehicle-recalls/?make=MITSUBISHI&model=PAJERO

Airbag * 2
Auto Trans * 2
Brake Hose * 2
Brake Pipe
Catalyst Overheat Warning System
Engine * 2
Fuel Hose
Fuel Injection System * 2
Manual Trans * 2
Vacuum Brake Booster * 3
Propellor Shaft * 2
Turn Signal (Indicator)

http://www.dogandlemon.com/site/japanese-vehicle-recalls/?make=MITSUBISHI&model=PAJERO

Each recall is specific to a particular manufacturer period and series; check the lists of Model / Year and Frame / Chassis numbers to see if the recall applies to your vehicle.

Please bear in mind that this information applies to Japanese assembled vehicles; the AA publishes information on UK assembled vehicles, but I can't see any Pajero info there. Are Pajero's not indigenous to the UK?
