Chaps and Chapesses

Sorry have not been on for some time, its the internet police at work something to do with not being compatible with work I think is the reason they block this site Evil or Very Mad

This time of year we all know is when the aircon is going to play up and true to form stuck in a 7 mile traffic jam coming home from Bournemouth on Sunday 32degrees outside and no aircon Crying or Very sad

Anyway got home and looked in sight glass, lots of foam so time for a re-gas I thought, I had a look round and thought I found a leak where the unions go into the rear aircon box (lots of oily deposits around unions). I took it to my local BT garage who also do official private work and they do aircon £75 for a re-gas.

They filled and tested for leaks and found none (yippee) but and here is the but the front AC is not working, rear is getting nice and cold but nowt on the front, They are scratching a few heads today to see if they can find the problem but any ideas out there. Air temp sensor maybe? Confused

Thanks

If the rear is working, then the compressor and all that sort of stuff must be working ok. Hence it must be the front selector system - air temp sensor is the most likely place to start, but it could also be the flaps around the evaporator getting jammed.

If you switch the rear off - does the aircon shut itself down (compressor deselected)? If so, it must be the electronic sensors/controls - if it tries to keep working I would suspect the flaps getting stuck.

Thanks mate, will do some contortionists moves and see what I can see regards the flaps and all that.

No way I want to go to Devon in a couple of weeks with kids and caravan in tow with no AC.

If anyone has any other ideas they are all welcome.

Rick

You were right seems we have some sticky control flaps on the heater matrix, a squirt or 2 of oil seems to have done the trick for now.

Maybe I will take it all out sometime and give it a good clean.

Thanks

I have exactly the same probem. Air con re-gassed about 4 weeks ago, tested for leaks (didn't find any). Rear air con work a treat but up front not so good.

Before I call the guy out again, which bits did you oil & more importantly, where are they.
