Hi All,

When air con engaged on my 91 2.5 SWB, engine revs rise to 1500, which I need to reduce. Can anyone please point me at the adjustment ?Thanks.

Sorry to point out, but the system is designed to do that. The extra revs "drive" the aircon system.

To the best of my knowledge your only options are to turn off the aircon, or live with it!!!

Revs should rise a bit - coupla hundred revs.
you don't say what revs are at when idling with aircon off.

I appreciate that the revs need to increase with air con engaged, but 1500 is a tad high, especially when stood at junctions etc. Normal idle speed is 750.

Tickover on mine is 700ish and ups to 950 with aircon on.

So warm overnight lately have considered sleeping in the car with engine ticking-over and aircon on Wink ......blow the expense, problem is that the neighbours may not be too happy about it! Sad

Hi mate, the solonoid on the bulk head, just by the vin plate, operates a suction device on the back/side of the pump. This pulls a rod onto the throtle mechanism that increases the revs when required. It may go on and off as required. Less so in economy than the normal setting.

In the pic, is the adjuster for this. If you go too low it will unsettle the tickover big time. Normally it would rise from 750 to 1000 rpm.

HTH

The picture was spot on, engine revs now 1000 aircon engaged, and 750 aircon out. Many thanks for the top replies.
