Forget all this nonesence of E.103`s and duty, I am now adding veggy at 1 litre to 2 derv. This gives me fuel at about 77/78p a litre. This is cheaper than I was paying a couple of years ago, so the rising cost of diesel has in effect done me a favour by making me do this. At this mix there is no obvious difference in the colour, and I am not smelling like Harry Ramsdens. Could someone tell me how they will tell that I am depriving this crooked government of a couple of bob tax.

jaime1 i think that they can do roadside checks (not that I have ever seen one) & they have a mobile laboratory with them they can take a tiny sample & mix it with stuff which will show them if there is anything else in the fuel tank, did this in Wales some years back because the supermarkets were selling loads of veggie oil & I rekon C & E have asked to be informed if this happens. They caught quite a lot of people & if I remember what I read big fines & cars were impounded. The thing to remember is that if you register & get the ok then if you are pulled you will be ok regardless of how much veggie oil you have in your tank because you pay after you have used it, I will play by the rules & pay the duty each month to avoid problems but I'm sure if you registered & used 100 litres of veggie oil a month & only paid for 20 who the hell would know as its declared on trust, at the end of the day its up to the individual. Whenever these sort of things come up in this country I get pi$$ed off with the powers that be because for getting caught using a bit of veggie oil (ok so you avoid a bit of duty/tax) you get a massive fine & maybe lose your car but beat up a pensioner & put em in hospital for 50p & the chances are £100 fine & told not to do it again, the laws in this country are sh.. & need sorting out.
