I've been running my Paj on biodiesel (from Hammonds, West Bromwich) for a few months now.
Costs the same to buy at the pump, but runs more smoothly, feels more powerful (haven't tested this - just pulls better), and get more mpl:
usually get about 80 miles for a tenner's worth; with biodiesel I get 95+.
(However, just had to have new injectors, BUT I don't think this is linked to biodiesel - injectors are just the most recent in a looooong list of mechanical fatalities)

[quote="PortlandJohn"]Hi
I am starting a new business in Weymouth Dorset.
We will be supplying and fitting conversion kits.
The conversions are based on the two tank system.
You start the engine on Diesel then swap to veg oil when it has warmed up.
can any diesel engine be converted I have for my sins a 97 Vectra 2L DI |

From that TV series "It's not easy being green" you know, the guy with the hamster under his nose
There's a whole site dedicated to green things
(haven't come across and little green men) .
They even run a course on how to produce bio diesel.
http://www.itsnoteasybeinggreen.org/inebg_courses.htm
I wouldn't mind going but at £165, it's a bit steep at the mo.
There is a section in their forum to do with transport and peoples Q & A on the bio stuff.
Be warned, whilst the is a lot of good info, there are plenty of strange folk who are a bit OTT who suggest wearing bras made from carrier bags (They didn't distinguish between men and women), not travelling abroad on holiday due to the amount of fuel used\pollution by aircraft and banning christmas lights |

'Accidentally' mixed 3L of tesco's finest Rape Seed Oil in with my "Home Use only" Diesel to give a 50/50 mix. Much smoother engine. If it was sold as an 'Engine Addative' like STP or Wynns (Both ridiculous prices - even at trade) would this get round any Tax problems and avoid the dreaded 'Cubing' |

Simon, Aany way of the Club selling VGO as a 'Fuel Addative'? Even in small quantities it make a significant differnce to the smoothness. Or is this |

|
|
I've just bought a system from these guy's biofuelssoloutions.co.uk I am now running on 100% EN grade bio diesel my paj has never run better I am also running my 1.8 escort on it, its working out at about 30p a litre, I'm buying the WVO at 11p a litre then there's the methanol and caustic, approx 750gram of caustic (depending on quality of WVO) and 30ltrs of methanol add this to 150ltrs heated oil and put it through the processer hey presto!! 140 ltrs of top quality Methyl-estates (bio-diesel), A few mates chipped in to buy the system all running paj's and second cars on it some with electronic injection systems including an 06 range rover.
Biofuels do a cracking little system the fuel pod 2 it makes 50ltrs a batch or a tank full just test the oil put in the right amount of pre-mix pour in your WVO and it does it all for you including a filling nozzle just back up your car and enjoy!!
I recommend going to their open day to see the systems for yourself and make a batch of bio-diesel. |
