Hi, just changed my bmw for my first paj (94 2.8 swb), and iam not looking back. i just carnt stop driving it (costing my a bomb).

Could some please advise me of what the A/T Mode button located next to the auto shift does? as i can not tell any different, or am i doing something wrong?

Also after reading the other remarks on speakers, is mine the only paj not to have speakers in the rear?

Thanks Smile

Do you mean the Overdrive button on the side of the shifter ?

Looked at the FAQ, explains it well but i can not tell any difference when driving (should i be able too?).

No its not the overdrive button, this button is located next to the hand brake.

Taylor,
sounds like you have a problem, there is a noticable difference in the gearchange characteristics with this switch.

Take it back for repair.

Hi All.
Another newbie question. Mention is made in these pages of the A/T Mode Switch. I have searched diligently without being able to locate one on my Paj. Is it a toy that is not fitted to all models, and can I live without it, or am I looking in the wrong place.
Thanks.
Mick.

Mine is too, but I don't think they all have them - since some people have been impressed with mine - "Oh er, you've got the 'sports model then"

I wouldn't worry too much if you haven't got it, don't know about other people, but I don't find it makes much difference & if you're wanting to rush around then by the time you flipped the overdrive off & found the switch - you've missed your chance - might be better for the hold side of it for towing, but I've not done much of that yet.

when in POWER; the gearbox does NOT change up so quickly. Allowing you to overtake then when you release the throttle it will then change.

when in auto. The gearbox does its own thing at the right times. Normal driving.

when in HOLD; the gearbox HOLDS the gear that you are in. i.e. when towing, going downhill, off roading it will hold that gear while desending a gradient.

Try this, select AUTO, driving along, pretend to be overtaking, kickdown then the gearbox changes when speeds are reached.
put it in POWER and do the same....the gears hold longer before changing.
Put in HOLD, you should notice that the gears DONT change

hope that all this helps.
