Hi mickmaxtaz, and every one else
thank you for the answer to my thick q.
Another q. Does all that scientific engine stuff mean its not wise to add svo to your tank. If you can, without killing your (my fuel pump) what would the ratio be . I have a 92 ltr tank (derv).
1. Is it legal? Does?
2. The mpg drop/increase?
3. Can you add white spirit to thin the viscosity, and up the combustion rate?
4. Is any of this extra work worth it? Cost against gain etc!
Look forward to hearing yours, or any one elses reply.
Ps. I am a buy and drive person. If it breaks get a clever person to fix it,lol.
Kind regards

1 yes,if you pay the tax
2 should stay about the same
3 combustion is different with diesel(cetane not octane) but it will thin it,better to use methanol
4 even with the tax paid,it's still cheaper than pump diesel
mix 50/50 in summer and 25/75 in winter without any probs(it'll smell funny tho) |

Green Lid, it`s only legal if you pay the duty on svo. The mpg is certainly no worse and there is no need to add any thinners. It`s not worth it if you do pay the duty on the stuff which means you will be paying currently something like 92/93p a litre.
You could just use it, don`t declare it, and enjoy having fuel at under 70p litre by using a 50/50 mix, (but of course, that wouldn't be within the current law so I'm sure none of us do that ). Think of your fellow Cornishmen who marched to Depford in 1497 to fight for their rights. I think they would turn in their graves if they thought people like you were paying this ridiculous tax to this fascist government.

Jaime - I've edited your original post - as a reminder to all ... please do NOT encourage others to break the law ...
"Just use it... " is different to "You could just do it ... but that would be breaking the law " ... even though the the latter may be implying the former.
The club does not support illegal activities and I trust that careful phrasing of personal views and opinions will be used in situations such as this.

Maybe if the men of Kent had shown the same guts and supported them things might have been different.
