My c/d lock orange light is flashing and I cant find out what this means in my hand book.
The normal is the 2 green lights in 2 wheel drive but these go off and the orange is flashing.
The car is a 3.5 GDI.
Any one got any ideas--- desparate to know.
Looks expensive.

I'm only guessing, but I wonder whether you locked the diff while driving on tarmac or "non-skiddy" surface and the diff light has flashed ever since. If so, it could be that the transmission is "wound up" and under too much stress to disengage the diff lock.

The way to release diff lock in that case is to "unwind" it by driving in reverse for a some distance (perhaps fifty yards or more!) before again driving forwards.

That said, I am only guessing (and hoping that the cure isn't expensive)

because you have invecs2 drivetrain, you had better hope you've knocked a sensor off. are there any other lights flashing? what were you doing before it started?

This has just appeared out of nowhere and I wasn,t doing anything untoward at the time. On start up all lights ie 4 green and 1 orange all light up and settle down to just the 2 green, after driving a while the 2 green go off and the orange will flash. When this first happened I pulled over and turned off the engine and when i restarted the lights went back to 2 green.
Frightened to go very far in case it goes Bang.
Hope you can help with this

I have 3.5 GDI too, in mine the orange lamp flashing alone on the super select display indicates that the transfer box is in neutral (thats between 4HLc and 4LLc ) see pic here:

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.co.jp/inter/products/GDI_PAJERO/gdi_pajero_03.html

In 4LLc the orange lamp constant = engaged

you might be lucky and find is only a sensor problem.

Assuming you have the normal auto box, the lights are controlled by the 2/4wd lever. When you move the lever to select 4wd, the 2 rear lights should stay on steady, and the front 2 lights will flash until the 4wd is fully engaged. Same when you select Diff Lock - the orange will flash until engaged. Then when you deselect it will flash again until fully deselected when it will go out.

When you start the engine, you should normally only see the 2 green rear lights which are on permanently - anything else shows that something is wrong - and it will usually be either the vacuum being lost overnight allowing the selection gubbins to part select or the switches are out of adjustment. The vacuum problem is usually caused by either a perished hose or a leaky solenoid - the hoses go from the driver's side bulkead to the front axle, and another set of hoses go from the EGR control solenoids (passenger side bulkhead) to the EGR valve on the engine, and finally to the brake servo.

Check all that lot first and see if that fixes it.
