as we're dealing with 15 year old cars,i thought i would share a little tip with you. the clinometer(or the oh bleep meter ). it has a plastic diaphragm on the back to allow it to expand with heat of the sun, over the years it becomes brittle and splits. so top tip for the day, take it out and smear silicon all over the back of it
this will stop it splitting,if that's too late you need hair clipper oil(yes really),it's the same colour and thickness as the oe stuff, smear silicon on the back, put a hot drill through the top and pour the oil in,seal with a blob of silicon and the job is done |

Cheers for that More x 4. I have now refilled my clinometer. I had some red oil in the shed of the same consistency as clipper oil, well it is an oil additive, so I thought I`d give it a go and see what happened. What dyou think? Have a look here

No it wasn`t m8. I wouldn`t have that in my shed!!
It was Marvel Mystery Oil (American Stuff) which is very good. It also works ok in clinometers! and I only used that because I wasn`t allowed the wifes horse clipper oil which she caught me trying to steal! I don`t think paraffin is a good idea PoCUK - its a bit thin! I smoke and wouldn`t want that dribbling down the inside of my dahsboard should it spring another leak! My Mrs has decided to get some extra clipper oil to see if she can get different colours to work with food dye, She may be starting up a business now , you never know |

Does the clipper oil mix with what is in there?
Or do you empty it and refill it with entirely clipper oil? |
