Simon's been very quiet on this matter (since Jan 26th in fact) and I don't blame him.
I somehow overlooked this thread in the past so have just finished reading through and whilst the idea of an 'on tap' guide to all things Pajero is a fantastic thought I don't envy anyone who attempts it.
I tried this myself in the past when I had a Peugeot 605 SVE 3.0, taking photos, writing everything up, (trying to translate the only manual I could get hold of, which was in French) with the intention of producing a website with all the information on. Good idea if you're retired with nout to do but not feasible if you need to earn. Still got all the info but ran out of enthusiasm to do anything with it, then got rid of the car.
The other problem is the safety aspects. Put anything in print for someone to follow and they damage themselves doing it, and you haven't adequately covered all aspects of safety then you will end up paying their bills.
This forum is huge and would take a month or two of Sundays to go through and catalogue. Whilst the search function is adequate its not always comprehensive due to differing names for pieces and parts being used by different people (and yes I do know there is a Technical FAQ section).
Might I make a suggestion for all posts from now, which is self helping and within the scope of all 'posters' and may ease any future consideration of cataloguing the wealth of information contained in the forum.
If all the post subjects were of the form 'Engine - Head - Removal' or 'Steering - Wobble - Pitman Arm' or 'Electrics - Headlamp - Replacement' etc etc (or something structured along those lines) then information might be easier to locate and the Technical FAQ Section enhanced to encompass the info (pretty much like the Chapters in a repair manual).

Didn't intend this to be so long but I'll sit back now that I've had my ten penneth worth, ready to receive the torrent of abuse that is likely to ensue.

The above is not a criticism of the original suggestion of a POCUK Manual but me thinks it will be avery long time in the making if it is undertaken. If the status quo is maintained and those that have the time and will continue to 'picturise and procedurise' repairs and replacements I will still be happy, as long as I can find the post again when I need it,
Glynn

hi all
The manual is a fantasic idea, but unfotunatly it has its faults. As some one mentioned earlier there is the safety aspect, but the biggest problem will be with different people giving different parts diferent names to everyone else. Now as to the safety aspect you could just put a disclaimer in the very first part of it and that would then cover everyone involved. The parts naming is going to be the hardest part to crack. Now as those who know me this is my first paj and i didnt have a clue, but thanks to the help of club members i now have a lot better idea of what i am doing. The other problem i can for see is every person in the club has their own level of experiance with vehicle mechanics. Its great that there is so much help available and from different people, so you can draw your own conclusions on how to do something. Now if it was an interactive dvd then it would be a totally different kettle of fish because people would be able to clearly see that part mentioned. As for paying for the manual i cannot see what harm there is in that as for those who are involved with it will have to give up a lot of their time to make it. Now we all know you dont get something for nothing in this world, wether it be by giving up time or a bit of money. Now if this maual is made i will be more than happy to part with some of my hard earnt money to those who make the manual.

If all club members who are able to take pictures whilst working on their beloved would it help if these were donated to the club for the furthance of the manual. I for 1 would be willing to do this.

As for all the help i have had so far all i can say is a massive thanks to everyone who has helped me, it has saved me a fortune in the garage price department.

How about getting in touch with milners asking if they would sponser a car service as it would be great advertising for them and also any other company that donates parts/time ect to the club manual. It would also make a great reference point for them to use. Anyway that is my 2 pence worth.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Hi all

Just read through this lot (I know I'm a bit late!) and I'd definitely buy whatever was produced.  I'd be looking for something with pics and along the 'idiots guide' line.  Please don't forget the Mark 1's though, otherwise only my hubby would make use of your efforts   Evil or Very Mad

So, how's production going on this, then?

Thanks to everybody for your feedback!

Keep it coming!

Great idea about sensible topic titles ... (although that is stated quite clearly in the 'guidelines' posts Wink) ...

Where are we with this little project?  Nowhere yet - time constraints and personal issues have put a bit of a delay on plans to date ... it's still a runner though!

I am still considering breaking the tech forums down into independent sections first though ... maybe even a single section for the EGR valve Laughing
