I`v just read The oil bible in the FAQ section.DONT READ IT. you will worry your selves to death. Have I got the correct oil , should I use an additive etc, etc. My advice is go to a Mitsubishi dealer and ask them and use the manufactures recomendations and change it TWICE a year. |

What if some people do 30k plus a year. Then 2 oil changes are no good. There are a lot of people on here who know what they are talking about especially in the FAQ section.

its really simple, use a mitsi filter, change it every other change, flush when you change the filter, and use a good mineral oil. the interval is 3-5k |

As the average motorist is surpose to do 10,000 miles a year then they will only need to change there oil twice a year unless you work your engine hard, towing, off road etc, etc, thats all I meant.
Personaly I`v always changed my oil twice a year on all my cars, trucks etc and have NEVER had ANY type of engine failure in any of them, with the exception of this pajero and its sticky waste-gate, which isn`t really an engine failure anyway . I am only passing on 35 years of experience, as I do 99% of my own mechanics. and ALWAYS use genuine parts etc.

what you have to remember is that alot of the owners on this site myself included love their pajeros a bit kinky i know but there you go that is why most of us change the oil every 3/5000 klm some of us cannot agree on the mineral/semi synthetic or fully synthetic oil debate but thats another point if you listen to some of the owners on this site you wont go far wrong trust us |

I hear what you are saying and am taking note, always willing to learn more.
I too love my Pajero and hope to for many years. I`v driven many different 4x4s and use to trial Landrovers but this is my first 4x4 that I have actually owned myself. I`v put it through its paces off road on the farm and am quite impressed considering its only got the standard Yokohamas on. Its snowing hard here at the moment so its going to be fun in the morning.

4D56T engine is also used for generators and diggers -- Its about20years old in design, hence synthetic oil was not available in those days. Hence good quality mineral oil every 4-5 k--- sooner if just mooching around and the engine doesnt get chance to get good and ticking hot !!! |

hi
all of this suprised me as ive just bought some oil and the book lists semi synthetic, ive always used aftermarket oil filters, why is it so important to use a mitshu one.
concidering my oil is very very very black and do not know when lasted changed it can only be an improvement.

hi terry, ever heard of the expression, you get what you pay for? there are some things that pattern parts are just as good, but filters isn't one of them, and for about 15 quid the peace of mind alone is worth it |

Absolutely agree with more x 4 on this..
Original Mitzi oil filters and good quality Mineral oil for our old tractor engines.
Anything else is risking damage to your engine and your wallet.
If you go and buy something new , by all means use a semi synth oil. |
