WELCOME TO THE CLUB
If it is a genuine Paj unit these are normally a direct fitment however your best bet would be to fit an aftermarket unit as these are not much use in this country HTH |

There are 2 types of connector used on the paj, 1 is a single plug and the other has 2 plugs , sounds like you have the wrong radio for your plug

Mitsubishi Pajero wiring adaptors:
July 1983 to May 1993 Part reference: PC2-12-4
May 1993 onwards Part reference: PC2-46-4
Got mine from Halfords a couple of weeks ago and it cost £15.
They convert the wiring plug on the Pajero harness to the socket on the back of replacement radio's. |

They convert the Mitsubishi connector to an ISO connector so the radio must be ISO compatible! |

can you just cut the plugs off the pajero, and the plugs off the stereo, and plastic-block the appropriote wires together? |

Don't see why not - it will save you a bit of money but it's a bit of a chew on. |

Got mine off t bay, will try to fit & new unit tomorrow.
They pointed out that there were 2 different types and would replace if i got the wrong one.
Bout £7 +p&p. Looks ok but wires aren't as thick as those that came with my JVC. |

50/50 chance and I got the wrong one!
I've got a 94 2.8 and it needed the single PC2-46-4. £13.50 from Halfords.

I've just fitted a new stereo and used the PC-46 adaptor. I found that the red wire and the yellow wire of the radios loom had a bullet connector along them. I had to swap the two wires over (yellow in to red and visa versa) so that the radio station memory would work after the ignition was switched off. |

Hi,
Radio by any chance wasn't a Sony unit was it...
This is a common fault with Sony audio's, as the perm and ign feeds are the wrong way around for ISO connection... |

If you have the newer "post 1993" Radio with the single larger plug and are too tight (like me) to go and buy a adapter from Halfords then here is the pin-out for the radio.

Hi, i don't want to sound like i disbelieve you but if you have the original radio unit and nothing has been altered the halfords convertor should do the trick. You need to make sure you order it by the product number shown in the diagram in this thread. The year of your truck will decide which one you need. I also remember that when i bought mine the actual name of which cars the plug fitted wasn't an exact match, i.e. i think it said a different make not mitsubishi. But like i say if you go with the product number you'll be ok.
Also make sure your new unit has the iso connectors then the convertor just plugs in and away you go.
You could cut off the plugs and join the wires them together. I believe there is a wiring diagram on here showing which of the Pajero's wires are which. But doing that you may lose some sound quality.
I'm sure a local member will be along in a minute and could pop alone to see you.
Apologises if you're now reading this and thinking "yes i know this, why is he rambling on"
Good luck |
