Lifting your Pajero

Lifting your pajero will give you better ground clearence, arrival/departure angle, and also breakover angle all of which will be better for offroading. There is 4 ways too achieve this:-

1:- Suspension Lift, On a SWB you can fit the LWB rear units as they are the same size but stiffer, and/or replace with specialist suspension units with longer travel and better articulation, this way has its draw back if you havent adjusted your Torsion Bars  (check post for lifting these) you will only get 30-50mm, one way round this is reworking your brackets.
One set of suspensions availabe are Pro Comp ES9000 front Iron Man Springs rear...

2:- Bigger wheels and tyres size 15's max tyre 265/75 (75 is the 5 of 265 width of tyre) 16's 265/75......
the larger the wheel and tyre the more profound the problems are that you will come across, 1. wheel scrub, 2. speedo rating, 3. change gearing, 4.hill climbing will suffer slightly.

3:- Body Lift this is relativly easy to do, but can also be quite expensive, with body lifts you can achieve 50mm with out any problems ie.linkages, pipes... but rasing the 50mm is really for outsize wheels.. my advice is think hard before this one, due to any higher brake lines, tank neck linkages and such will also be needing modified.

4 Buy a Pajero with Hydraulic Suspension operated from a button near hand brake (limited edition models)

For best results do 1, 2 and 3 will give you in the region of 150mm (6inches) with little to no effect on steering or handling but will vastly improve your offroading, suffice it to say if you can drive offroad that is:P

good points but you need to be very careful when changing the steering geometry, just because you can doesn't mean you should Wink

cranking the torsion bar puts extra strain on the steering and driveshafts, at best you will wear out the u/j gaitors quickly as they rub together, at worst you will lose expensive bits as they go beyond spec and eat themselves.

also remember that when you make a paj taller it's more likley to roll, so all you extreme offroaders out there should make a roll cage a 'must have' Wink
