Hello.
Anyone got any idea how much these should cost to replace. Our Paj has just failed it's MOT on them being shot (due to the dust covers being cracked).
The main delaer wants over £300 a side.

Spot-on Richie! Got mine from Milners, nice they are too! Gold finish! No problems since having them fitted! (also had new disks and pads with them!) |

Equifax have just quoted £52.88 for both and postage.
Is it worth getting new or just using the salvaged parts?

Your life depends on whether the car (over 2 tonnes of it) will stop properly or not! you decide! |

Dead easy to fit mate, just be sure that any girling washers that you reuse are sound on the flexible brake hoses etc, and bleed properly. Go easy for a few miles until new pads bed in. Should be able to do both sides in under an hour, unless the slider bolts are seized. Dont forget to order new pads at same time. If you want specific "how to" just ask mate. |

Nice one..Thanks for all the help.
I've got a mate coming next weekend to change them.
You thinks it's worth getting new discs too? And theres a pad fitting kit on Milners..any ideas what that is?
Also we're going to give it a bit of a servce...so a list of things to change would be good... (I haven't looked for alist on this site yet).
Answers on a postman...

I don't know the part number but NAPA ships across the pond and sells rebuilt calipers with the pads and hardware installed for about $50US each. |

Unless the discs are worn mate, I should leave em. Pad fitting kit is just new clips, and some anti squeal grease. Might as well have it if you havnt already got some. Service wise, again use Milners. They have a service filter kit at only £10.00 for an oil, fuel, and air filter. Change all these along with the engine oil. Use a quality mineral 15/W40 oil. Dont bother with semi or full synthetic if yours is a 2.5, as the 4D56T 2.5 motor doesnt require it. Fuel filter is a bit of a pig to do. Easier to remove intercooler to get at it, then remove the entire filter and housing and change filter on the bench. Watch out for the water sensor wiring plug on the filter bottom! The filter head has a priming pump, but if you fill the new filter with diesel first, it will start without bleeding anyway. Good grease around front balljoints, steering, and prop shafts, check front, rear axle, transfer box, and main gearbox levels. If its an auto box, check auto box fluid level. (box needs to be in drive with engine running to do this, so torque convertor is full - BE CAREFUL) Thats about it for a "general" service. |

Thanks vmaxsnoopy.
It's a 2.8 - what are you thoughts on type of engine oil - and how much?
Is it worth changiing axle/tx box/gear box fluid or just checking.
