Done this today, after much deliberation.
Took me about 30minutes start to finish.
Tools required:
1x Pliers
1x 17mm Socket
1x 12mm Socket
Some tissue
and WD40 or cleaning fluid.
1. Disconnect both '+' terminals of batteries.
2. Using pliers, undo nut holding wires in place. Remove all the way with using your fingers, taking care not to drop and lose the nut and washer!
3. Move the wires out of the way. (Around the dipstick seems a good place)
4. Loosen the 4 nuts holding the busbar on top of each glow-plug.
5. Busbar should become loose now. Remove by sliding it from under washers carefully.
6. Spray with WD40 or suitable cleaner and wipe with tissue, or use wire brush for stubborn bits.
7. Using 12mm socket, remove each plug and clean/replace. I used WD40 to gently clean, making sure they are dry before they go back in.
8. Replace all plugs using fingers tightness first then the socket. (Helps reduce chance of cross-threading)
9. Tighten plugs back into head. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Remember you will still be able to see some of the thread.
10. Refit busbar underneath large and retainign washer, as it was when come out.
11. Reconnect wires ontop of plug/bar.
12. Reconnect wires to batteries and shut the bonnet.

Simple really, dont know why I took so long to doing it. Now starts straight away again just by cleaning the plugs etc.
Many thanks to Andy (redders) and James (morex4) for their invaluable assistance. |
