Hi everyone, first time post (first of many....)
Going to Sweden early next year and would be grateful for some advice on winter tyres. I've been on bridgestone, michellin website to get a general idea but would like to hear from people who have actually used the tyres. I will be using the tyres in this country too so unfortunately, studded tyres are out. Tyre size is 265 70 R15.
Thanks in advance |

loz, case of when are you going and how, in some parts at certain times of year, studs are compulsory, chains to be carried etc, along with some other silly in our mind rules, but essential if you go off track, that is into forest areas, pure survival stuff.
How, I have contacts for direct sailings there, and some knowledge of Sweden, Norway Finland etc.
Lights on all the time, drink, don't even bother, nil reading, or jail, simple rule that one.
look here, read and digest it.

Which part of sweden are you going to? If you are going to the north of sweden it can be better with studded but not a must.
If I was you I would had bought the cheapest tyres available, just be sure that they are approved for winter roads in sweden. Not all M+S are!
I am currently using studded old Cooper. |

Sorry, I forgot!
Nokian and Gislaved are the top brands for swedish winter roads, but you also have to pay top price |

I'm posting faster than thinking.
If the trip starts and ends outside sweden there is no legal need to use winter tires. |

WOW,
Loads of infomation. Thanks for the quick replies. Will go to the local ATS and see if they can supply any of the tyres (going to use winter tyres for insurance purposes and piece of mind). Heading for Skepshult and Kulltorp in February, March time but taking the long way round through Europe.
Another question, because i've converted my V6 to LPG, are there alot of petrol stations providng LPG in Sweden and do i need a adaptor (been told by the LPG installer that i do, but other people say that the bayonet fixing is a universal fixing so i don't need it). Any suggestions????
Cheers again |
